Calvary Lutheran Church in Verona and Caldwell University put their Heads, Hearts, and Hands together on Tuesday, November 10. A group of more than 40 young adults and students, led by the Rev. Adam Kuder and his wife Liz, packed 8,000 meals for the Feeding Children Everywhere (FCE) project.
Feeding Children Everywhere (FCE) is a non- profit social charity that empowers and mobilizes people to assemble healthy meals for hungry children and is located in Longwood, Florida. Representatives Daniel and Rosie, who is a college in-tern, were sent from their Connecticut Branch to oversee the setup and combined efforts of the volunteers.
Since their founding in 2010, FCE has packaged 38 million meals.
5,000 of the meals, packed at Caldwell University, will be shipped by FCE to Nairobi in Kenya with the remaining 3,000 being distributed to local food pantries and those in need. Overseeing the local distribution will be Mrs. Debbie Houlihan, a Mission Task Group member at Calvary.
Students were invited to join Calvary at upcoming events, including Thanksgiving Eve worship and an International Luncheon at the end of November. Likewise, Calvary was invited to join Caldwell U. when they hand out sandwiches and clothing to the homeless in NYC.
The combined Mission Involvement and Outreach Opportunity was held at the University Gym and was overseen by the University representative Meghan Moran, who also participated in the packaging. It was agreed that Calvary would continue to keep Meghan updated with future Mission Activities and events being held and she in turn promised to do the same.
