It is very important to be able to put a plan down in writing. A plan has many aspects - there is the strategic layer, where you look at the big picture; there is the operational layer, where you look at how the organization which you are a part of uses all of its moving parts; and there is the tactical layer - how the specific piece of the puzzle which you belong to fits into accomplishing “the bigger picture”. Then there is the linear aspect of a plan - how it unfolds. Every plan should acknowledge what the limiting factors are and be built around priorities.
It is a commonly accepted best practice for Pastors to engage their community leadership. But here, we are talking about a more robust dynamic - empowering a leadership team of non-church members, who are leaders in your community to help you plan ministry, hold you accountable and be a true partner.
