But my eyes are focused on you, O Sovereign LORD; in you I take refuge. Psalm 141:8

Dear Youth Leader,

It is so easy to lose focus on what’s important. This is true for everyone but no one more than our young people. The 2010 NJ District Winter Youth Gathering wants to help your youth group refocus on what’s most important - - Jesus Christ.

Here are the details:

•   Dates: Friday, 1/29 – Sunday, 1/31
•   Place: Camp Lebanon
•   Open to: 7th – 12th grades
•   Cost (includes 2 nights housing, five meals, snacks, and more!)

Super Early Bird
$99/person - PLUS Register five or more youth before 12/15/09 and one adult leader can attend for free!

Early Bird
$99/person - Postmarked between 12/15/09 & 12/31/09

Final Registration
$125/person - Postmarked between 1/1/10 & 1/11/10

Download a registration form here.

Cancellation Policy
We know sometimes youth or leaders need to cancel participation in the Gathering due to illness or other unplanned events. The Winter Youth Gathering Policy is that $60 of your registration fee is non-refundable. One of the things several groups have done in the past is to find someone to attend the Gathering in the canceling person’s place. Also, please keep in mind that if your registration is received after 1/8/10, you may not get t-shirts. This is due to the amount of time we need to have them printed.

This summer, Dave Kisser (DCE @ St. Paul, Flemington) and Katie Hertel (youth @ Our Savior, Fair Lawn) attended a conference hosted by the Youth Ministry Office in St. Louis. This conference brought together LCMS youth from around the country to prepare them to share God’s vision for our lives. We are excited that Dave and Katie will be sharing what they learned with us at our Bible Study sessions at the Winter Youth Gathering.

We have been truly blessed for the last few years to have a great group of people put together our workshops and are thrilled they will be back again for 2010. They’re already hard at work and below are the workshop titles with a brief description. Instead of doing sign ups, we will be giving out tickets when you check in at the Gathering. Space for each workshop will be limited and tickets will be given out on a first come, first served basis. (What a great reason to be on time Friday night!)

•   Escape the Middle Seat - Who controls your life? Are you hot or not? Take the challenge.
•   The Quicker Picker Upper - What does the country’s leading paper towel brand and the good Samaritan have in common? Come and “absorb” Christ’s love and strength through games and activities while testing your own “durability.”
•   What’d You Say? - In the real world, life’s a ticking bomb ready to explode; but in this trek, only your words can control the detonator.
•   The Green Mile - They’re all going to laugh at you. Come and find out why.
•   Image is Everything – Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the coolest of them all? Come learn how God sees us.
•   What Happens in Vegas - Are you willing to risk it all? Win big or go home!
•   Can You Hear Me Now? - When life gets loud, do you turn it up or tune it out?
•   Kids Can Spot a Phony from a Mile Away (Adult Workshop) - The worst thing you can do is say one thing and do another. This will be an interactive discussion of how we can Do, Love & Walk in the footsteps of God.

Last year we had a great time with a Crazy Dress-Up party. Please encourage all youth to bring something fun to wear for Saturday night. Also, please make sure their “costume” is appropriate – no underwear over clothes, no cross-dressing, nothing inappropriate.

If you have any questions about the Gathering, please don’t hesitate to contact Alicia De Sena at ard1016[at]comcast.net or 908.884.0559.

Please keep the NJ District Winter Youth Gathering in your prayers as we continue to plan and prepare for another Christ-filled weekend.

In His Service,

The Winter Youth Gathering Steering Committee
