2009 was a rough year. Finances are tough, spirits may be low, and the need for leadership in your church and your community is greater than ever. At the same time, the Lord continues to work in His Church in marvelous ways, providing us with new opportunities to serve each other and show love.
It is in that spirit of responding to the difficulties of ministry in the hope of the living Lord that you are invited to the 2010 Ministry Leaders Conference held Friday and Saturday, March 12-13, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Morris Plains, NJ.
This year’s conference speaker is Rev. Steven Hower of St. John’s Lutheran church in Ellisville, MO. Pastor Hower brings a wealth of leadership and ministry experience, having served congregations ranging from 40 to 2,500 people, and was a founder of Pastoral Leadership Institute.
The conference topic, “Grace Filled Leadership” will address questions relevant to your ministry context, including:
What does Grace Filled Leadership look like, especially in the following areas:
• How do we balance administration and shepherding? (Session 1, Friday)
• How do we raise up new leaders? (Session 2, Saturday a.m.)
• How do we achieve a healthy financial picture? (Session 3, Saturday p.m.)
Other questions Pastor Hower will address:
• How can a medium- or small-size congregation apply leadership principles that typically work with a large staff?
• Are there structural or governance issues that keep us from being more grace-filled as leaders?
• What is the pastor’s role in addressing financial or administrative issues? The leadership board’s? The congregation’s?
• How do we find inspiration to grow as leaders and to move ahead with the unique ministry that God has given us in our New Jersey communities?
• What does God’s Word have to tell us about these matters?
The cost of the conference has been reduced to a flat rate for pastors and lay leaders, at $35 per person for pre-registration, $45 for walk-in registration on the day of the conference.
